Happy Holidays
Jammin' to ... feelin'

Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Kwanzaa. But most of all, Happy Festivus for the rest of us. Thankfully we returned home safely from our yearly Christmas Eve celebration with the fam bam. Despite the heavy fog and potential drunk drivers, we're all in one piece. Thank you jeebus.

Instead of buying everyone gifts, the cousins usually do a traditional draw names from a hat gift exchange. This year we did White Elephant instead. My contribution was a "date night", aka movie tickets and a restaurant gift card. In case you don't know how White Elephant works, here's the gist. Unfortunately I drew #3, which means less gifts to steal from and a higher chance of having my gift stolen. "Lucky" for me, I opened a gift that was undesirable to everyone, so it was never stolen and I was stuck with it. What did I get? A men's size XXL dress shirt. Yay. Even if it did fit my bf, he's too metro to wear it. These gifts are supposed to be unisex, people!! My contribution gift was stolen three times, so it was a hit. Woo. I lose.

Among my other presents this year was a new house robe from my sister, which makes me look like a geisha, a scarf that I'll never be cold enough to wear, some cash (woo!) and.... a special gift from the man. I'm still not quite sure what to make of it. I gave some kick ass presents as well; a digital camera for my brother, Columbo Season 1-3 on DVD for my momma, Felicity Season 1-4 on DVD for my sister, and a $100 Best Buy card for my dad. He's way too picky to shop for. The man got a new TV that should've gone in my bedroom anyway, but it's not gonna fit. I lose again. But he loses too, and his roommate wins, because he's never home enough to watch it. Meh.

So it's 3am and I should probably get to bed. Gonna hang out with my grandma tomorrow at the cemetary. Cemetaries on Christmas day. Fun stuff.

Spectacle's over.
Jammin' to ... feelin'

Now that my dear friends know what I bought, I can now post pictures for my lovely readers. Pic 1, Pic 2 and Pic 3. It's a 2003 6MT purchased from my brother's old boss. Yes, I've had the car a week and have already managed to drop a few thousand on wheels. In case you care, they are 20" DPE GT7s. I can't believe I bought a car with tan interior, but it's actually really growing on me. I wouldn't change a thing! I love, love, love my new car. Let's hope I love, love, love it longer than I loved the 911.

I haven't enjoyed driving this much in a while.
Jammin' to ... feelin'

This past Sunday, my brother and I switched cars for the week so he could have the shop fix the rear bumper and mount the new wheels on my car. I was strangely sad to see my baby go, even though it would only be gone a week. I'm left with my brother's extremely low GTi. It's annoying how slow I have to go on dips, and in LA, there are plenty of them.

Monday night, as I was driving home from work, I had come to a stop at a stop light when *BAM*, rear ended. It felt like a really hard bump, but when I inspected the damage it was just a slight crack in the bumper and a bunch of chipping paint. The stupid whore of course has NO insurance and NO license! Of fucking course. So I took down as much of her information as I could. We'll get estimates and she'll pay out of pocket, and if she gives me any hassle, I'm reporting her ass. Not exactly sure how that's gonna work but my momma comes home from the Philippines on Monday, and she works in law enforcement so she'll know what to do. I'm pretty pissed that one careless mistake by an uninsured, unlicensed motorist is inconveniencing us more than anything.

Due to the accident, my brother's week-long holiday with my new car had to be cut short so he could start getting estimates in San Diego. My sister and I drove down to San Diego tonight, ate dinner with my dad and brother, then went right back home to LA with my car. So glad to have it back; I've been missing it dearly! My new rims are on... can't wait to see it in daylight! Due to the meatier side wall and offset, I rub slightly in the rear passenger's side during hard cornering when there is another person in the car. When it's just me, no rubbing. I'm going to wake up extra early tomorrow just so I can take the long way to work.

I cannot wait to see Memoirs of a Geisha on Saturday!! I just finished the book this week and am looking forward to seeing the film adaptation on the big dome screen at the Arclight in Hollyweird. I don't care if it strays from the book, or that Chinese women are playing Japanese roles. I don't give a FUCK! The scenery in the trailers looks awesome, and I am psyched.

Man, I wish it would stop raining... I want to wash and clay bar my car. Sigh... I'm such a geek.

New car.
Jammin' to ... feelin'

I'll spare you the big spectacle and just say it: I bought a *bleep* on Tuesday. [edit 3:31pm: ok, so I will make a spectacle of it. My friends are dying to know what it is and I feel like having a little fun.] It's damn sexy and a fun car to drive. My credit union was very generous and easy to deal with. I highly recommend San Diego County Credit Union to anyone in the area, even for just a simple savings account. The only requirement is that you work or live in San Diego county. Easy enough!

Had dinner with my best friend from middle school last night. When we were younger, we would write long letters to each other in our best penmanship, fold them up into a heart, or arrow, or rocket ship, and exchange them during passing period. When I started high school (she's a year older) we lost touch, up until she found me on Fr1en.dst.er a couple months ago. So many years have passed but we can still chat up a storm until the restaurant closes. I love that girl!

TGIF... I got to work at 7am this morning so I could leave by 2 and wait for the cable guy. I finally gave in to TiVO. Or something like it. Comcast offers DVR for only $10 a month.. ROCK! I should have it installed in my bedroom so my sister will never get to use it. Hee hee heee.
